For those who love Halloween, there is no better place to spend this spooky time of year than a seasonal escape in Dublin city. Steeped in history, Dublin has many tales to tell both ghoulish and ghostly. Birthplace of Bram Stoker who hails from Marino, located just across the water from Sandymount much of the Halloween celebrations are centred around a festival in his honour.
The Bram Stoker Festival is now in its 10th year and celebrates the life and writings of this Dublin born literary character. The festival takes place from October 27th to 31st offering a host of events for people of all ages to enjoy. We know that we will be heading to see Cygnus, the water installation at Grand Canal Dock and are really looking forward to the Macnas Parade in Dublin City Centre on October 30th at 6pm. Closer to home here in Sandymount Village, the local school will gather with their pumpkin carving creations for a display at 3.30pm on Friday 27 th of October on the Village Green. Afterwards there will be a Halloween party for all at the community centre. There is a much loved tradition of children trick-or-treating around the local houses. On the Eve of Hallows children from the area will dress up and go from door-to-door collecting treats to enjoy for their Halloween party.
